Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Ahmed Ololade, popularly known as Asake, has revealed an exciting collaboration with Grammy-winning artist Wizkid on his latest track, ‘MMS’ – Mr. Money Sound.

The song is featured on Asake’s third studio album, ‘Lungu Boy’ released on
Friday.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Asake shared his enthusiasm for the collaboration, highlighting how Wizkid has influenced his musical journey since his early days as an aspiring artist in Lagos.

Asake wrote, “It’s no secret that Wizkid is one of my music inspirations. As a young, striving artiste in Lagos, I’ve been waiting for that right song, so when the opportunity came, it was a no-brainer. ‘MMS’ stands for ‘Mr Money Sound’ and it explains my music journey.”

Asake says Lungu Boy reflects his roots and growth as an artist. He blends local Lagos beats with global music styles, aiming to share his African heritage with the world.

The afrobeat singer has been on the rise since the release of his debut album, ‘Mr. Money with the Vibe,’ in September 2022.

The album set a new record for the biggest opening day for an African album on Apple Music. It debuted at number 66 on the Billboard 200 chart, marking the highest-charting Nigerian debut album in the history of the chart.

This collaboration with Wizkid on ‘MMS’ is expected to cement further Asake’s status as one of Afrobeats’ leading artists.
