A truck has crushed three persons to death at Obada-Oko mechanic village, on the Abeokuta-Lagos Expressway, Abeokuta during multiple accidents.
The Public Relations Officer of Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the incident on Wednesday.
Akinbiyi said the accident involved a truck with registration number AGL 535 XW, a Nissan Taxi with registration number TRE 150 YJ, and a Toyota Corolla car with registration number ABB 984 TF.
He said the accident was caused by the driver of the Toyota car who allegedly took one-way and faced the oncoming vehicles at the mechanic village, leading to a collision.
He explained that five males and one female were involved in the accidents.
According to Akinbiyi, the truck driver who was heading towards Abeokuta lost control as a result of the action of the driver of Toyota car.
He added that the truck driver veered off his lane and hit the Nissan Taxi which was going towards Obada-Oko while attempting to avoid a head-on collision with the Toyota car.
Akinbiyi said when the rescue team arrived the scene, three persons had lost their lives while three others had sustained various injuries.
He said the bodies of the three persons who lost their lives had been deposited at the state hospital, Ijaiye, Abeokuta.
He further said one of the three injured victims had been taken to the state hospital while the two others were taken to Federal Medical Center, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta.
He said,
“The three confirmed dead are now at State Hospital, Ijaye Morgue, while one of the injured is at State Hospital Ijaye and two others at FMC Abeokuta receiving treatment. Drums are placed at the scene of the accident to caution other road users”.
