Troops from the 6 Brigade Garrison of the Nigerian Army apprehended two suspected kidnappers and rescued two victims at the Central Bank of Nigeria area in Jalingo, the capital of Taraba State.
Brigadier General Frank Etim, the Brigade Commander, confirmed the incident in a statement on Monday.
The operation, carried out in the early hours of Sunday, was prompted by credible information about terrorist activities in the state metropolis.
“Acting swiftly on the intelligence, the troops conducted a raid on the terrorists’ hideout, leading to the capture of Mr. Awwal Bobo, 32, and Mr. Sallau Abdul, 33,” Etim explained.
The rescued victims were identified as Mrs. Fauziyya Yusuf and Mr. Abdulsallam Abubakar. They were safely extricated from the clutches of their captors.
While the operation was successful, some suspects managed to escape upon sighting the advancing troops.
“Efforts are underway to track down and apprehend the fleeing criminals.” Etim stated.
