Afrobeats singer Wande Coal has intensified his public feud with Davido, firing back at the singer after fresh comments about their strained relationship during a television interview.

The latest exchange came after Davido claimed that Wande Coal had been trying to get his attention and had recently asked for his phone number through another person, despite their disagreement over an unreleased collaboration.

Wande Coal rejects Davido’s claims

Reacting to Davido’s remarks, Wande Coal accused the singer of presenting an incomplete version of events and challenged him to reveal their full conversation.

He also dismissed Davido’s account of their relationship and took a direct swipe at his musical ability.

“Keep capping on National TV,” Wande Coal wrote.

He added that he had passed the baton to a new generation of talented artistes, but insisted that Davido was not among those he was referring to, ending the remark with a “talentless fool” jab.

The response marked another escalation in what began as a disagreement over their shelved collaboration but has increasingly become personal.

Davido says Wande wanted his number

Davido had earlier spoken about Wande Coal during an interview, claiming the singer appeared to be seeking his attention despite publicly challenging him.

He said Wande had asked a mutual contact for his phone number about two weeks earlier, but he instructed the person not to share it.

Davido also described Wande Coal as “acting like a baby”, suggesting he did not understand why the singer had reacted so strongly to his comments.

The Afrobeats star later shared a screenshot of a conversation in which someone appeared to ask for permission to give Wande Coal his number.

Wande, however, has now questioned why Davido did not publish the entire conversation, adding another layer to the increasingly heated exchange.

‘Come My Way’ dispute sparks feud

The disagreement initially centred on Wande Coal’s 2021 song “Come My Way”, for which Davido had recorded an unreleased verse.

Davido said Wande Coal approached him for the collaboration and that he recorded his contribution believing it would be part of the main release.

According to Davido, problems emerged when Wande planned to release the original version first and later put out the version featuring him as a remix.

Davido said he was unwilling to have his contribution treated as a remix, leading to the collaboration being shelved.

Wande Coal disputed that account, insisting that the song already had an established release plan and date.

He also questioned why Davido wanted to dictate the release strategy for a song that did not belong to him, adding that “Come My Way” performed well commercially without Davido’s verse.

Personal insults deepen dispute

What began as a disagreement over music soon turned personal after Davido responded to Wande Coal with a mocking remark on social media.

Wande Coal quickly fired back with an insult of his own, setting off a wave of reactions from fans of both artistes.

The latest “talentless” remark has now pushed the disagreement even further, particularly after Davido’s television comments about Wande allegedly seeking his attention.

Their exchange has attracted significant attention across social media, with fans debating the history between the two singers and revisiting their earlier relationship within the Nigerian music industry.

Neither artiste has indicated that the dispute is close to being resolved, with Wande Coal’s latest response suggesting the public back-and-forth may be far from over.
