Trippier bags 10 weeks suspension for breaching FA betting rules

Published

England and Atletico Madrid right-back, Keiran Trippier, has been slammed with a 10-week suspension after violating FA’s betting rules.

According to local media, the association also fined former Tottenham Hotspur player the sum of £70,000 (N37.2m)  in relation to same offense.

As a result of the sanction, the 30-year-ols will be away from all football and football-related activity for the period of his suspension.

Sky Sports report that the suspension is effectively immediately after an investigation by an independent regulatory commission.

According to Reuters, the Three Lions star denied seven alleged breaches of FA Rule E8, which were said to occur in July 2018, and requested a personal hearing.

“An independent regulatory commission was appointed to hear the case, with four of the alleged breaches found proven and three dismissed during a subsequent personal hearing,” the FA said in a statement.

The suspension, which includes all football-related activity, begins on Wednesday following an application to world soccer’s governing body FIFA, the FA added.
