Arnut Danjuma joins Villareal

Dutch international winger, Arnut Danjuma, has completed his mover from Bournemouth to Europa League champions, Villareal, the Championship side said in a statement.

Danjuma who is of Nigerian descent teams up with Super Eagles’ attacker, Samuel Chukwueze, who won the Europa League with the Yellow Submarines during the dramatic penalty shootout victory over Premier League giant, Manchester United.

The Cherries comfrimed the 24-year-old’s departure on it’s website and reports revealed that the La Liga side snapped him up on a five-year deal believed to be worth about £21.3m.

Bournemouth said, “Arnaut Danjuma has completed a move to Villarreal for an undisclosed fee.

“The Dutch international has put pen to paper to join the Europa League champions having been with the Cherries since August 2019.

“During his time on the south coast, Danjuma played 52 times for the club and netted 17 goals.

“The 24-year-old was also named in last season’s EFL Championship Team of the Season as well as winning the club’s supporters player of the year award.”

Despite missing out on promotion back to the Premier League after losing to Brentford in the play-offs semi-finals, Danjuma attracted interests from other clubs after netting 15 goals in the Championship last season for Bournemouth.

Danjuma was born to a Dutch father and a Nigerian mother and has played for the Dutch youth national team as well as twice for the senior team.

The Lagos born star is, however, still eligible to represent the Super Eagles, according to new FIFA rules.
