Tinubu administration driving Nigerians into poverty, – Ex-CNPP scribe

Former Secretary-General of the Conference of Nigeria Political Parties, Ezugwu Williams, has criticised the administration of President Bola Tinubu, alleging that worsening economic conditions have plunged many Nigerians into severe hardship and hunger.

Speaking during an interview on ARISE News, Williams expressed concern over what he described as a growing perception among citizens that financial success can only be achieved through access to public funds.

He argued that the current administration has fostered a system where government resources are increasingly viewed as the primary route to wealth, while entrepreneurship and productive economic activities continue to decline across the country.

According to Williams, only a small number of traders still believe it is possible to build wealth independently without relying on political connections or access to government patronage.

“Many Nigerians believe wealth comes mainly from government money,” he said, adding that the Tinubu administration has boxed citizens into hunger and hardship.

Williams also voiced concerns about the state of journalism in Nigeria, claiming that many journalists no longer report everything they observe, possibly because of fear or external influence.

Drawing from his more than three decades of experience in the media industry, he stated that many Nigerians are reluctant to openly discuss the scale of corruption in the country despite being fully aware of how widespread it has become.

He maintained that corruption is now deeply rooted within the system, warning that the enormous sums involved in corrupt practices have the potential to distort people’s judgment, values, and moral standards.

He further noted that the level of corruption in the country has evolved beyond routine public concern and now poses a serious threat to national integrity and public trust.
