Three young Nigerian siblings killed in Canada car crash on New Year’s Day
Three young siblings of a Nigerian parent, Destiny Osagie, 11, Flourish Osagie, 10 and their six-year-old sister Britney Osagie, died in a car crash near Sudbury, Ontario in Canada on New Year’s Day.
Provincial police say the accident happened shortly before 9 a.m. on Wednesday while two families were driving back to the municipality of Chelmsford, Ont., on the outskirts of Sudbury.
Const. Michelle Coulombe says a 2007 Honda Accord driven by the children’s mother left the highway and hit a rock cut.
Toronto Sun reported that brothers Destiny and Flourish were pronounced dead at the scene, while their sister Britney was pronounced dead in hospital later that day.
A 10-year-old boy not related to the Osagie family remains in hospital with life-threatening injuries, while the two mothers travelling in the car with the children were either unhurt or slightly injured.
Coulombe says officers are investigating the crash but no charges have been laid so far.
