Suspected Boko Haram insurgents reportedly abducted an undisclosed number of pupils from primary and secondary schools in Mussa village, located in Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno State.
According to Yerwa Express, a Borno-based publication, the attackers stormed the community during school hours on Friday, causing panic among residents and students.
The publication stated that a teacher at the affected school confirmed the incident. Another source, however, disclosed that the exact number of abducted pupils could not be verified as of the time of filing the report.
Daily Trust further reported that the Deputy Speaker of the Borno State House of Assembly, Abdullahi Askira, acknowledged that the attack occurred but declined to state whether any pupils were kidnapped during the invasion.
As of press time, neither the Nigerian military nor the Borno State Police Command had released an official statement regarding the incident. Efforts to get a response from the spokesperson of the Borno State Police Command, Nahum Daso, were unsuccessful, as enquiries sent to him had yet to receive a reply.
