Nigeria’s Super Falcons have been named the 2025 CAF Women’s National Team of the Year after a dominant year that ended with their 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title.

The award was presented on Wednesday, November 19, at the 2025 CAF Awards held at the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University in Rabat, Morocco.

CAF officials praised the team for their strong performance throughout the year. A senior CAF representative said, “The Super Falcons showed quality, discipline, and a winning spirit. They deserved this award.”

The Falcons enjoyed a near-perfect WAFCON campaign under head coach Justin Madugu. They won all their group games against Tunisia, Botswana, and Algeria without conceding a goal.

Madugu said, “The players gave everything. Their teamwork and mentality carried us through tough moments.”

Nigeria crushed Zambia 5–0 in the quarterfinals and beat South Africa 2–1 in a tense semifinal before facing hosts Morocco in the final.

The final delivered one of the most memorable comebacks in the competition’s history. After going 2–0 down early in the match, the Falcons fought back in the second half, scoring three goals in 24 minutes to seal the title.

Captain Rasheedat Ajibade, who was nominated for CAF Women’s Player of the Year, said, “We never gave up. Wearing the green and white means we fight to the end.”

Goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, shortlisted for Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year, also spoke on the team’s achievement. “This team has heart. Every match, we played for our country and for the next generation,” she said.

The victory continues the team’s long tradition of excellence and strengthens Nigeria’s position as Africa’s leading force in women’s football.
