Six men aged between 23 and 76 in Singapore are set to appear in court on Thursday (Sept 10) over their alleged involvement in separate molestation cases, according to the police.
The alleged offences occurred between May 2025 and July 2026, police said on Wednesday.
One of the cases involved a 17-year-old girl, the youngest victim, who was allegedly molested by a 34-year-old man along Silat Avenue on Dec 15, 2025.
Police said the incident was reported shortly after it occurred. Follow-up investigations subsequently led to the identification and arrest of the suspect.
The man is expected to face two charges of outrage of modesty, as well as two counts of uttering words and making a gesture intended to insult the modesty of any person.
In a separate incident, a 76-year-old man allegedly molested a 22-year-old woman at Singapore General Hospital on May 27, 2025.
The suspect was identified following investigations, police said. He will be charged with one count of molest and another count of uttering words intended to insult the modesty of any person.
The remaining four suspects, aged between 23 and 36, will face charges relating to outrage of modesty and do not face any additional charges.
A conviction for outrage of modesty can result in a jail term of up to three years, a fine, caning, or a combination of these penalties.
Police also highlighted the role played by members of the public in several of the cases. Bystanders, friends, security personnel and other members of the public intervened, provided assistance or alerted the police promptly when they encountered or witnessed the incidents.
“Their actions helped to safeguard victims, preserve evidence and facilitated swift action,” the police stated.
The authorities urged members of the public to remain alert and respond appropriately if they witness or encounter sexual crimes.
Through the SPOT protocol, which stands for “Spot. Protect. Observe. Tell.”, members of the public are encouraged to remain vigilant and help identify potential victims and threats within the community.
Police statistics showed that 762 outrage of modesty cases were reported between January and June 2026, compared with 739 during the corresponding period in 2025. Such cases accounted for 7.4 per cent of all physical crime cases during the first half of this year.
Residential premises, public transport and public entertainment outlets were the three most common locations for outrage of modesty offences during the first six months of 2026, according to the police.
Cases occurring at residential premises saw a notable increase, reaching 227 in the first half of 2026 compared with 172 during the same period a year earlier.
