The Nigerian Navy says it has recovered about 80,000 litres of suspected stolen crude oil during operations in the Niger Delta.

The Navy said personnel discovered about 30,000 litres of crude oil in a dug-out reservoir at Oteghele community.

Another operation at Obodo Omadino uncovered approximately 50,000 litres.

Meanwhile, a separate joint operation with the NDLEA in the Warri area led to the arrest of three suspects.

Drugs recovered in Warri operation

Security personnel recovered about 15 kilogrammes of cannabis as well as quantities of cocaine and crystal meth.

“The suspects and recovered items are presently in custody of the NDLEA for further investigation and necessary action,” the Navy said.

NNS Delta Commander Commodore Shehu Tasiu said the operations demonstrated efforts to tackle crude oil theft and drug trafficking simultaneously across the Niger Delta.
