Siege won’t stop Biafraland, Nnamdi Kanu warns Army
Leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, on Sunday, warned that attacks by the Nigerian Army would not stop the agitation for Biafra.
Kanu made the declaration on Sunday via his Twitter handle.
His comments come in reaction to the alleged killing of at least seven members of IPOB’s security outfit known as the Eastern Security Network (ESN) by Nigerian security forces.
DailyPost reported that the killing occurred three weeks ago during a joint operation by the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigerian Army and Department of State Services.
Kanu tweeted: “Let this be clear: This unwarranted siege of Biafraland must stop. Or we stop it. The siege won’t take us back down from restoring #Biafra.
“It will rather strengthen our resolve & recruit more faithful to the cause. The more you siege, the closer Biafra beckons”.
WUZUPNIGERIA had reported that one of their commander Ikonso, identified as the Vice President-designate of IPOB, was killed during the attack.
This also led to a series of attacks on the country home of the Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, and several police stations, leaving a number of policemen dead.
The government has since blamed the attacks on the ESN although the outfit has not officially claimed responsibility.
