Former Kano State Governor Ibrahim Shekarau criticized the recent call made by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Abdullahi Ganduje, urging Governor Abba Yusuf and NNPP presidential candidate Rabiu Kwankwaso to join the APC, labeling it as unnecessary.

Shekarau, in his response, emphasized the importance of advocating peaceful coexistence in Kano State rather than inviting political figures to switch parties.

He suggested that Ganduje’s focus should have been on fostering peace among the people of Kano regardless of their political affiliations.

In a statement, Shekarau expressed his perspective, stating, “My brother, Ganduje came to Kano and invited the governor, Kwankwaso and others to come and gather in APC. For me, that is not necessary.”

He continued, “What he should have done was to call on the people of Kano to stay peaceful, regardless of who is leading, since the case is over.”

Shekarau highlighted the transient nature of political power, remarking, “Whether you insult them or not, whether they know how to do it or not, they are the ones in power. Whatever it is, it will come to pass. Eight years is just like tomorrow.”

He concluded by underlining the importance of justice and fairness in leadership and association, emphasizing that individuals should be ready to leave if they do not perceive justice in their present circumstances.
