SEE what Mrs Buhari donated to less privileged women in Kano

In a bid to alleviate the sufferings of the less privileged in Kano State, Nigeria’s First Lady, Mrs Aisha Buhari on Tuesday donated some food items to less privileged women in Kano North Senatorial district of the state.

Kano State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Barrister Zubaida Damakka Abubakar was the one that disbursed the food items, valued at millions of naira.

The distributed food items are part of the 1,000 cartons of Sphagetti, 1,000 cartons of macaroni, 300 bags of rice, 1,000 cartons of couscous, 1,000 bags of Semovita, 1,000 bags of wheat flour and 500 bags of sugar donated by the Mrs. Buhari.

Presenting the food items to women leaders at Bichi, Barrister Abubakar described the gesture as remarkable and deserves applause, noting that the First Lady has proved to Nigerians that she not only cares for them but signals the beginning of more good things to come.

The Commissioner hailed the First Lady for her humane disposition and called on Kano people to extend to the Buhari administration the necessary support needed to move the country to greater heights.

Barrister Zubaida stated that the state government is doing everything humanly possible to assist the poor in the state, as it has carried out similar humanitarian programmes in recent times, like the daily distribution of meals to the needy, as well as empowerment programmes for the widows, orphans and socially disadvantaged women.

She enjoined beneficiaries of the food items donated by Mrs. Buhari to not only make good use of the items but to take advantage of the state government’s empowerment initiatives, so as to curb poverty.

Also, the Commissioner announced a donation of N500, 000 to the women leaders from the 13 Local Government areas of Kano North Senatorial zone, to enable them transport the donated items to their respective local government areas.

The state Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Mrs Aisha Muhammad Bello, described the First Lady’s humanitarian gesture as coming at the right time, considering the fact that some people find it difficult to afford three square meals at the moment, due to financial constraints.

Some of the beneficiaries, expressed their appreciation, adding that despite her position, Mrs Aisha Buhari has not forgotten them, stressing that she has demonstrated her motherliness, who is determined to wipe away the tears of her children.
