Rivers United coach hails team’s spirit in Enyimba victory
Rivers United coach, Stanley Eguma lauded his team’s resilience in facing a formidable opponent following Rivers United’s commanding 2-0 win over Enyimba in their rescheduled Nigeria Premier Football League match at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt,
Echeta notched both goals for the Pride of Rivers in the first half, securing a crucial victory for the home side.
Eguma, in a reflective tone during the post-match interview, acknowledged the formidable challenge posed by Enyimba, stating, “It was a top-class encounter, two rival opponents, Rivers United/Enyimba FC is a cracker any day. They are defending champions and they showed that in the game.”
Expressing appreciation for his players’ efforts, Eguma continued, “It was a good game, three points in the bag. I appreciate the players and thank them for their effort.” He emphasized the team’s ability to rise to the occasion despite the toll of recent travels, stating, “Having been on the road for some time, traveled to Gombe, Enugu, and back to Port Harcourt, the effect of the wears and tears of the league…”
Eguma highlighted the significance of overcoming adversities, stating, “…but today against all odds to come out with a resounding 2-0 victory is a good one.”
The victory propelled Rivers United to the 11th position on the NPFL table, signifying a positive turn in their league campaign.
