Real Madrid to move La Liga match for Taylor Swift concert

Real Madrid has submitted a formal request to La Liga seeking a rescheduling of their final game of the season to accommodate preparations for Taylor Swift’s concert at the Bernabeu the following week.

The scheduled match against Real Betis, set for Sunday, May 24, is being reconsidered to an earlier date, specifically Saturday, May 23, to allow adequate time for stadium arrangements ahead of the 34-year-old singer’s performance on Thursday, May 30.

Additionally, Real Madrid is exploring the possibility of arranging a second concert for Swift, considering the overwhelming interest received.

However, complications arise regarding the approval of the request, as both Real Madrid and Real Betis may still be contending for positions in the final round of La Liga fixtures.

The title race remains intense, with Madrid currently leading by six points over second-place Girona, while Betis remains in contention for a European place, occupying seventh place in La Liga.

Maintaining sporting fairness, Madrid would need to play their last league fixture simultaneously with Girona, and Betis with other teams vying for European qualification.

Taylor Swift’s 2024 tour includes performances at various football stadiums, including Anfield, Wembley Stadium, and Lyon’s Groupama Stadium.

Concerns have been raised about the Lyon dates potentially clashing with the Ligue 1 relegation play-off, with Lyon currently sitting three points above the relegation play-off place in Ligue 1.
