Read what Nigerians are saying after long jumper Ese Brume didn’t make podium in Rio
Nigeria’s sports fans had their hopes very high when long jumper, Ese Brume qualified for the Rio Olympics long jump finals.
Though the 20-year-old did not jump the automatic qualification mark of 6.75m, she was able to qualify after she finished 3rd in Group B with her best distance of 6.67m during her second attempt.
Rio 2016 Olympic games is the 2016 African Championships gold medalist’s second appearance in a major final outside the continent since she won at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
The long jumper got a lot of love from Nigerians even though she placed 5th in the finals with a jump of 6.81m, out doing her personal best of 6.68m in the process.
Tianna Bartoletta won the gold in the event with a jump of 7.17m, Brittney Reese won the silver with 7.15m while Spanovic won bronze with 7.08m.
