Principal absconds as school building collapses, kills student in Ondo
Tragedy struck at a secondary school in Ondo state on Friday as a junior female student died after several blocks of her school building collapsed on her.
The school principal, identified simply as Mr. Oladunjoye, reportedly fled the school premises after the incident.
According to SaharaReporters, the incident happened at St Andrew Grammar school, Ondo town in Ondo West Local government area of the state.
Part of the school building reportedly collapsed around 12noon during school hours.
It was gathered that the victim, a JSS 3 student of the school was being rushed to the Ondo State Teaching Hospital at Laje road in Ondo town before she gave up the ghost.
Meanwhile, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has reacted to the incident.
Akeredolu took to Twitter to condole with the family of the deceased student.
He tweeted:
“This is Tragic. The Secretary to the State Government is on the scene to assess the situation and I have interfaced with the police. My deepest condolences to her family. May her gentle soul Requiescet in pace.”
