A young man identified as Michelet Mongerard has reportedly drowned in the swimming pool during his 32nd birthday celebration at the weekend.

The deceased, who hails from Connecticut but based in Haiti was found unconscious at the bottom of a pool at a home on Greenfield Road in Glenbrook on Sunday.

Sgt Paul Guzda told the Stamford Advocate that the deceased was pulled from the pool by his cousin just after 7:00 pm.

Reports said his cousin was able to resuscitate him by performing CPR before medics rushed him to the Stamford Hospital.

It was gathered that Mongerard appeared to be responding to treatment initially but a few minutes later, he died at the hospital.

The police at the moment believe Mongerard’s death was accidental because the 20 to 30 family and friends at the party said he could swim and that he didn’t appear to be intoxicated.

Police said no one saw Mongerard go into the swimming pool, noting that authorities have discovered a “minor” abrasion on his head.

Police said an investigation is still ongoing to ascertain what actually happened because it is unclear if Mongerard slipped and hit his head before falling into the swimming pool.

Officials said at the moment, “the cause of death will likely be ruled as an accidental drowning.”
