Police nab six for vandalising railway tracks in Ogun
At least six persons have been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for vandalising and stealing railway tracks at Oteyi area of Ibogun in Ifo Local Government Area of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.
Oyeyemi said they were arrested on Sunday while committing the crime, The PUNCH reports.
The suspects have been identified as Taiwo Ismaila, Egbekunle Abiodun, Abdullah Sanni, Nuru Ibrahim, Wasiu Aweda and Babatunde Sikiru.
The police spokesman said that the team led by the Divisional Police Officer of Ibogun Division, Samuel Oladele, apprehended the suspects following a tip-off that some vandals were removing some rods along the rail line.
He said,
“Upon the information, the DPO, CSP Samuel Oladele, led his men to the scene where the six suspects were promptly apprehended.
“Recovered from them are; 27 rail iron rods, two burning touch with hose, six long cylinders, three short cylinders and one inter-colder Volvo Truck with Registration Number SMK 61 XY.”
