Police launch manhunt for killers of A’Ibom brothers
The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has initiated a manhunt to apprehend the yet-to-be-identified gunmen responsible for killing two elderly brothers, Enefiok Etuk, 70, and Ebongeti Etuk, 50, who were brutally murdered in their residence around 11 pm.
The tragic incident occurred last Thursday in Nnung Iyoho, Afaha Offiong, Nsit Ibom Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
The elder brother, Mr. Ime Etuk, who narrowly escaped, recounted the horrifying ordeal.
“From my room, I overheard my fourth brother, the one that was physically challenged, calling for help, shouting that they were about to kill him. His door was forced open. I heard the wife lamenting; ‘you have stabbed the baby.’ Ebongeti, my fourth brother, was taken out of the room and killed at the backyard close to the kitchen. My second brother was taken out of the house through the window and killed also,” he said.
Ime Etuk managed to escape into the bush during the chaos and spent the night there until dawn. When he returned around 6 am, he discovered the gruesome scene, with both of his brothers murdered.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Odiko Macdon, responded to inquiries on Tuesday, stating that investigations are ongoing.
“No arrest has so far been made, but the Commissioner of Police, Waheed Ayilara, has ordered discreet investigation. We are closing ranks and will soon catch up with the culprits,” Macdon assured.
