Police launch manhunt for Delta carpenter over apprentice death

The Delta Police command has launched a manhunt on a carpenter known as Orunor is on the run after allegedly beating his apprentice, Onome, to death in Sapele Delta State.
The incident reportedly occurred when the apprentice was disciplined for arriving late to work.
According to reports, Orunor not only chastised Onome for tardiness but also accused him of stealing his ATM card, leading to a violent altercation.
A resident of the area, who preferred to remain anonymous, revealed the shocking details, saying, “When the boy got home after work, he complained to his parents that he was not feeling too fine and related what happened to him at his place of work.”
The apprentice’s parents, upon learning of the situation, planned to take him to the hospital for a checkup.
However, before the arrangements could be finalized, Onome tragically passed away.
The source shared, “As the news got to the hearing of Orunor, he ran away, till now we have not seen him and the workshop had been under lock.”
Bright Edafe, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident, stating that a manhunt has been launched to apprehend the carpenter.
Edafe assured, “Efforts are in place to ensure that the suspect is arrested and brought to justice.”
