Samuel Ayooluwa, a 24-year-old suspected armed robber, has been arrested by the police in Lagos after he and two others attempted to rob shopowners in the Surulere area of the state.
Ayooluwa of no fixed address was arrested on Thursday, 22 April 2021 at No 54, Olatilewa Street by Lawanson in Surulere, following a distress call from one of the shop owners that three men were attacking and robbing their customers.
The police responded and gave the gang, who were on a motorcycle, a hot chase which led to the arrest of Ayooluwa.
His accomplices, however, escaped and are still at large.
Items recovered from the suspects, according to the police, include two locally-made pistols three live cartridges, three expended cartridges and two mobile phones.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu, has ordered that the suspect be transferred to the Command’s Special Squad for a thorough investigation and possible apprehension of the fleeing suspects.
