Photos: See the gift Mikel Obi gave Senator Akpabio before Algeria match
The captain of the Super Eagles, John Mikel Obi, on Friday night presented a brand new Super Eagles jersey to Senator Godswill Akpabio in the team’s dressing room.
Akpabio, who is the Senate’s Minority Leader and former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, received the gift with a joyous heart and wished the Super Eagles good luck in their outing with the Algeria on Saturday.
Following the Super Eagles 3-1 victory against Algeria on Saturday, Akpabio, congratulated them saying: I congratulate the Nigerian national team, the Super Eagles on their uncommon victory over the Fox of Algeria, adjudged by FIFA as the best team in Africa. On the eve of the match along with Governor Udom Emmanuel and the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Sports, Senator Obinna Ogbe, we had met with the team and assured them of our support and the support of Nigerians for them to qualify for the World Cup. The Captain of the team, John Obi Mikel presented me with the new team jersey. I’m proud of the performance of the Boys, the technical crew and the supporters who thronged the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium to cheers the team. Congratulations Nigeria.
