Published

The National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party has released a comprehensive schedule of activities in preparation for the upcoming Edo State governorship election.

The timetable, signed by the party’s National Organizing Secretary, Umar Bature, was unveiled following a joint meeting of the Board of Trustees and the National Executive Committee at the party’s headquarters in Abuja.

A key schedule highlight is the PDP’s governorship congress, scheduled for February 22, 2024. This crucial event will determine the party’s flagbearer for the gubernatorial race.

Aspiring candidates seeking to secure the party’s nomination will face a nomination form fee of N21 million. However, youths between 25 and 30 will receive a significant 50% discount on this fee.

In addition to the governorship primary, the PDP’s schedule encompasses a series of important dates and deadlines.

Registration of old and new party members will commence on November 16 and continue until December 7.

Ward registers must be submitted to the Directorate of Organization and Mobilization by December 14. A stakeholders’ consultative meeting with the National Working Group has been scheduled for December 19-20.

The sale of expression of interest and ad-hoc forms for all offices will commence on January 10 and continue until January 16.

The following day, January 17, marks the deadline for submitting completed expression of interest and ad-hoc forms. The screening of governorship aspirants by the NWC will take place on January 18, 2024.

For aspirants who have successfully completed and submitted their expression of interest forms, the sale of nomination forms will run from January 19 to January 25. The deadline for submitting completed nomination forms is January 27.

The PDP’s governorship primary will be held on February 22, followed by an appeal period on February 24.
