Palliatives: Gov’s aide tasks privileged individuals to support PWDs

Published

Mr. Chukwuka Ezewuzie, Special Adviser to Anambra Gov. Willie Obiano on Disability Matters, has called on privileged individuals to be charitable to Persons With Disabilities (PWDs), at the period of lockdown.

The lockdown running into many weeks was ordered by the government as part of measures to curb the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ezewuzie said that giving was a kind of special gift from God and urged the public to always reach out to PWDs, especially at this period of Stay-at-Home order.

He made the call when the leadership of the Joint National Association of Persons Living with Disability in Anambra paid him a courtesy visit on Friday in  Awka.

Ezewuzie commended the leadership of the association on its pragmatic leadership skills.

He encouraged the members to continue to see the ability in their disability and never engage in acts that would debase their personality.

He advised the leadership of the association to ensure that quality sensitization to the need to observe the COVID-19 pandemic precautionary measures were given to its members.

“There is a need for serious observance of the WHO safety measures during the Coronavirus pandemic.

“Information on how to stay safe should be handed over to all co-coordinators for grassroots dissemination,” he said.

Ezewuzie expressed gratitude to the state government and Mrs. Ebelechukwu Obiano, wife of the governor, for her consistency to provide for PWDs and the vulnerable persons in the state.

Earlier, Mr. Ugochukwu Okeke, leader of the delegation and Anambra Chairman of the association, said the visit was to thank him on his efforts to see that the associations got attention from the government.

Okeke said it was their aim to intimate Ezewuzie about the palliatives they received from Obiano and APGA leadership in the state.

He added that it was as well to inform him that it was distributed to members across the 21 local government areas of the State.

Mr. Amobi Nwagwu the state chairman of the National Association of the Deaf, and Mr. Ernest Okanmelu, his counterpart of the National Association of the Blind, were on the entourage to express their gratitude.
