Kim Kardashian has been awarded symbolic damages of €1 from some of the men convicted over the 2016 Paris jewellery robbery. During this robbery, she was tied up at gunpoint.
According to Reuters, a French court awarded the American reality television star the nominal amount on Tuesday. This followed a civil damages claim connected to one of France’s most notorious celebrity robberies.
Kardashian was staying at a luxury Paris residence during Fashion Week. During her stay, masked robbers disguised as police officers entered her room, restrained her and stole jewellery worth millions of dollars.
Among the stolen items was a diamond engagement ring valued at about $4 million. This ring was given to her by her then-husband Kanye West, now known as Ye.
Most of the jewellery has never been recovered.
Kardashian feared she would die
Kardashian previously told a Paris court that she believed she was going to be killed during the attack. The incident had a lasting psychological impact on her.
Several suspects were convicted in May 2025 over the robbery. The group became known in French media as the “Grandpa Robbers” because several members were older men.
Kardashian sought only symbolic compensation from some of those convicted rather than substantial financial damages.
The hotel receptionist who was also caught up in the robbery received about €110,000 in compensation after seeking €500,000.
Kardashian previously told the court that she had forgiven the mastermind of the robbery, Aomar Ait Khedache. However, she stressed that forgiveness did not erase the trauma caused by the attack.
Khedache was sentenced to three years in prison, while seven other defendants were also convicted.
