The Osun State Government is urging residents to come forward with any information that could assist in identifying the family of an abandoned day-old baby.

The plea was made through an official bulletin from the Osun State Ministry of Information and Public Enlightenment on Sunday.

Commissioner for Women, Children, and Social Affairs, Ayobola Awolowo, and Permanent Secretary Abimbola Babatunde jointly issued the statement, revealing that the infant, named Temitope Daniel, was discovered in a carton at Zone ‘B’ Area in Dagbolu, Ikirun.

The identity of the resident who found the baby was not disclosed, but the statement emphasized the urgency of the situation.

According to the release, all attempts by the police and social workers from the Ministry of Women, Children, and Social Affairs to locate the child’s parents have been unsuccessful.

The statement read, “A day-old baby, named Temitope Daniel, who was abandoned inside a carton around Zone ‘B’ Area, Dagbolu, Ikirun has been found by a good Nigerian. All efforts by the police and the social workers of the Ministry of Women, Children, and Social Affairs to locate the child’s parents were fruitless. This release therefore enjoins members of the public with relevant information about the abandoned child to assist in locating his parents.”

The Osun State Government is relying on the cooperation of the public to bring forth any relevant information that may lead to the identification of Temitope Daniel’s parents.
