One die as youths foil hoodlums attempt to set ablaze police station in Ibadan
Youths and Security personnel have repelled an attempt by hoodlums to set ablaze Mokola Police Station, Ibadan, the Oyo state capital on Sunday morning.
One account revealed that military personnel allegedly shot dead a young man at Nalende area but the cause of killing is yet to be ascertained at the time of filing this report.
Investigation revealed that the deceased was found in his pool of blood in the early hour, around 6:00am Sunday morning by the residents of the area.
It was further gathered that the military personnel chased the deceased to that area before opened fired on him but the cause of chasing is yet to ascertain as well.
But at around 8:00am when people started coming out, on sighting the remains of the deceased, youths in the area gathered themselves and took the dead body to Mokola Police Station.
Immediately they took the dead body to the station, the hoodlums started vandalizing the Police station until another group of youths from Mokola repelled them from further vandalizing the station
Another account who claimed that he led other youths to resist the hoodlums said one female police Inspector was hacked while the youths mobilised in hundreds to repel the hoodlums from setting the station ablaze.
The account said the deceased was an innocent boy who was hit by stray bullet why the crisis was ongoing.
