Firefighters have prevented a possible explosion after a 14,000-litre tanker caught fire along Eleyele Road in Ibadan, Oyo State.
According to The Guardian, the Mercedes-Benz tanker caught fire opposite the Nursing School in Eleyele on Tuesday.
Emergency responders move in
The incident was reported to the Oyo State Fire Services Agency, prompting firefighters to move to the scene.
The emergency team worked to contain the blaze and prevent the fire from triggering a major explosion.
The tanker’s location along the busy Eleyele Road raised concerns because of the danger the fire posed to motorists, residents and properties in the area.
Fire brought under control
Firefighters were able to contain the situation before it escalated into a larger disaster.
