Ondo bank robbery: Death toll rises to five
Three days after a robbery attack on two commercial banks in Ile Oluji the headquarters of the Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo Local Government Area of Ondo State, the number of casualties has reportedly increased to five as one of the injured persons has died .
A gang of armed robbers had attacked the two banks in the town on Thursday, killing four people instantly and injured several other people . Two yet to be identified mobile policemen and two civilians were killed in the incident
The robbers were said to have carted away undisclosed amount of money from the banks .
A source in the town, who identified the latest victim as Bode, said the deceased was a private security guard attached to one of the banks.
He said
“He ( Bode) is one of the security man attached to the First Bank, he sustained gunshot injuries on the day the robbery occured and he was rushed to the hospital.
“He has passed away now increasing the number of the people that lost their lives in the incident to five .”
The state Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Femi Joseph, said the command was still on the trail of the bandits.
” While investigation was still ongoing on the matter, our men are already after the hoodlums and they will soon be apprehended,” Joseph stated .
