Olubadan committed to mother earth
The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji, has been committed to mother earth on Sunday, January 2, 2022.
WuzupNigeria reported that the remains of the Yoruba monarch who passed away on Sunday were conveyed in an ambulance of the University College Hospital, Ibadan.
The Nation reported that the corpse was returned to the palace at about 4:35 pm from Mapo Hall where a lying in state and prayer was held.
The 93-year-old monarch was laid to rest amidst tears and weeping at his Popoyemoja Palace in Ibadan.
Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Sheikh AbdulGaniy Agbotomokekere, alongside other top Islamic leaders presided over the burial ceremony which was held according to Islamic rites.
The Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Rauf Olaniyan, led the list of top government functionaries present at the burial, alongside thousands of indigenes and residents of Ibadan who witnessed the burial.
