The Ogun State Government said three out of nine positive cases in its isolation centre would be discharged on Wednesday.

The state Commissioner for Health, Dr Tomi Coker, who disclosed this in an interview on Tuesday, said the new cases in the state were recorded in the Odogbolu Local Government Area.

Coker said,

“The two new cases came in from the UK on the 17th and 19th of March. They are a couple with no symptoms now.

“Over a week ago, we discharged somebody and three are likely to be going home today or tomorrow because they are negative.”

Meanwhile, The state Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, said the state had discharged nine more patients who have been receiving treatment at the Infectious Disease Hospital, Yaba.

Sanwo-Olu at a briefing on Tuesday said the nine patients having tested negative twice have been released to reunite with their family members and members of the community.

He said,

“Today(Tuesday), we are discharging nine patients – three females and six males, who have tested negative in two consecutive test readings. They are now free to be reunited with their families. This will now bring the total number of discharged cases to 70.”
