OBA OF BENIN CURSE! Premature deaths, disasters hit community in Edo
The people of Iguomon village in Uhunmwode Local Government Area of Edo State on Monday cried out over the recent mysterious deaths and disasters plaguing the community following the curses placed on them by the Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II.
The revered traditional ruler reportedly placed curses on the community for disobeying his orders. The community’s former officials of the outlawed Community Development Association disobeyed and twisted the customs and traditions of the Benin kingdom against the directives of the monarch.
The community indigenes yesterday besieged the palace of the Oba of Benin to beg him to revoke the curses placed on Iguomon village.
The indigenes alleged that since the curses were placed on the community, mysterious deaths, strange diseases, attacks of various kinds as well as untold afflictions have been ravaging the community.
Mr. Joseph Ighodaro, who is the spokesman and secretary to the community, said they came to the palace to beg the Oba of Benin to revoke all the curses placed on Iguomon village by his ancestors.
He assured that the people in the community were prepared to perform all the necessary rites needed for the revocation of the curses.
Ighodaro also pleaded with Oba Ewuare 11 to consider Mr. Roland Okhuarobo as the rightful Odionwere of Iguomon village. He assured that the people will refrain from all forms of violation of existing customs and traditions to avoid further premature deaths and disasters in the community.
