Nigerian actress Genoveva Umeh will join four other African personalities to host the 20th edition of The Future Awards Africa. The TFAA 20th anniversary ceremony adopts a five-country hosting format for its anniversary celebration.
According to The PUNCH, the TFAA 20th anniversary ceremony will bring together hosts from Nigeria, Tanzania, Malawi, Botswana and Kenya. It will hold in November at the Balmoral Events Centre in Lagos.
Umeh will share hosting duties with Tanzanian actor and former Big Brother Africa winner Idris Sultan. She will also host alongside Malawian broadcaster Priscilla Kayira. In addition, Botswana media personality Resego Motlhokathari and Kenyan actress and presenter Claudia Nasibwa will host as well.
TFAA 20th anniversary brings Africa together
Organisers said the multinational hosting lineup was designed to reflect the growth of the awards from a Nigerian platform. Moreover, it aims to become a wider celebration of young African talent.
The move follows the 2025 edition. At that ceremony, Kenyan media personality Azeezah Hashim became the first East African to host the event.
For Umeh, the event also represents a return to a platform where she was previously celebrated as a winner.
The Nollywood actress won The Future Awards Africa Prize for Acting in 2024. She will now return two years later as one of the hosts of its milestone edition.
This year’s ceremony carries the theme, “Celebrating the Redefiners: Africa’s AI Generation.”
The organisers said it will spotlight young Africans using technology, creativity and innovation to challenge established ideas. Furthermore, it will highlight their efforts to create new possibilities.
Five hosts mark TFAA milestone
The Future Awards Africa Executive Director, Ayodeji Razaq, said selecting personalities from five countries was intentional.
“Twenty years is a defining milestone for The Future Awards Africa, and we wanted the stage to reflect how far the platform has come,” Razaq said.
He described the five-country lineup as an expression of the continental identity TFAA has built over the past two decades.
The awards recognise Africans between the ages of 18 and 33. They honour achievements in fields including entertainment, technology, business, governance, creativity and media.
