Nigeria’s Roland Ezuruike breaks Paralympic record in Brazil

Nigeria's power lifter, Yakubu Adesokan won gold and set World record crashing with his amazing 180 kg lift in the men’s 48 category in 2012 Paralympics in London.



Report just coming in from Brazil informs that Nigeria’s Roland Ezuruike has set a new Paralympic record of 190kg to win gold in the men’s -54kg.

Ezuruike’s first lift of 185kg broke the previous Paralympic record before he extended it with his second lift of 190kg.

His major international debut came at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games with a massive lift of 189kg to win the event, which has led to him soaring to the top of the rankings for Rio 2016 .

Ezuruike went on to win open gold at the 2015 IPC Powerlifting Asian Open Championships, cementing his place among the world’s best.

23 athletes are representing Nigeria at the ongoing 2016 Paralympics in Brazil.

The list is made up of 10 male and 13 female athletes.
