Nigerian army vows to eradicate criminality, banditry, insurgency


The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigerian Army to eliminate all forms of criminality, banditry, and insurgency in the country.

Musa made these remarks while addressing troops in Sokoto as part of his familiarization visit during the Christmas celebrations with the troops of Operation Hadarin Daji on Tuesday.

Commending the troops for their dedication to the national interest, Musa acknowledged the challenges they face in the line of duty, expressing gratitude for their steadfastness.

He urged the troops not to get tired and emphasized the collective goal of freeing the country from criminal activities.

“I want to encourage us, not to get tired but we must free our country from all acts of criminality, banditry and insurgency, and we can do it,” Musa said.

Assuring the troops of his unwavering support, he stated, “As long as I remain the Chief of Defence Staff of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, I will give you all the support to ensure that you are able to achieve and perform your duty.”

Musa conveyed the commitment of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, assuring that the President is ready to support the armed forces in bringing peace to the nation.

He acknowledged the challenges faced by the troops but expressed optimism in their capacity, capability, and ability to address the security issues.

“The Chief of Army Staff was also here yesterday, and this shows you the love we have for you and to assure you are not left on your own, any challenges you are facing, we will face them together,” he added.

In response, the General Officer Commander 8 Division, Major General Godwin Mutkut, assured the Chief of Defence Staff that the troops of Operation Hadarin Daji would work towards surpassing their achievements in the coming year.

He commended the support from the office of the Chief of Defence Staff and the Defence headquarters, stating that the troops have performed tremendously well this year.
