The Queen of England, Elizabeth Alexandra Mary, has died on Thursday at the age of 96.

Her death was confirmed in a statement released on Thursday afternoon by Buckingham palace.

The British monarch passed away two days after meeting the newly elected Prime Minister, Lizz Truss.

Punch Metro had reported that the royal family gathered at Balmoral castle as doctors monitors Queen Elizabeth declining health condition earlier today.

The palace speaking on the development issued a statement this afternoon on Thursday saying, “Following further evaluation this morning, The Queen’s doctors are concerned for Her Majesty’s health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision. The Queen remains comfortable and at Balmoral.”

Unfortunately, the Queen passed away in the late hours of Thursday from an undisclosed ailment albeit reports has it that her age is a major factor that led to her death.

At age 25, Queen Elizabeth II became queen regnant of seven independent Commonwealth countries: the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Pakistan, and Ceylon (known today as Sri Lanka), as well as Head of the Commonwealth.

The queen married Philip Mountbatten, a former prince of Greece and Denmark, and their marriage lasted 73 years until his death in April 2021, they had four children together: Charles, Prince of Wales; Anne, Princess Royal; Prince Andrew, Duke of York; and Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex.
