Olubadan of Ibadan Oba Adetunji joins ancestors at 93
The Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji, has reportedly joined his ancestors in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The charismatic 93-year-old monarch was said to have died after battling a brief illness at the University of Ibadan College Hospital, Oyo State.
Although his death has been made an official announcement, PUNCH reports that palace officials neither confirmed nor denied his demise.
“Even if he is dead, it is the governor that will announce it,” one of his media aides said.
When contacted, another aide disclosed, “You don’t hear bad news from a priest,” and cut the phone.
Adetunji, who was crowned the 41st Olubadan on March 4, 2017, .
Oba Adetunji, who was born on August 26, 1928 became the king of Ibadan on March 4, 2017.
The monarch was the first of 17 children of his parents.
