Publish details of N400bn COVID vaccination fund, SERAP dares FG
The Federal Government has been urged by the Socio-Economic Rights And Accountability Project to publish details of the fund it said would help in vaccinating Nigerians against COVID-19.
Recall that the Federal Government had in December 2020 said N400 billion would be needed for COVID-19 vaccines.
According to The PUNCH the Federal Government, through the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, has budgeted the sum of N10.6bn to transport the COVID-19 vaccine to the 36 states and the 774 local government areas as well as the Federal Capital Territory and the five area councils of Nigeria.
Reacting to the budget, SERAP advised that it should be executed with transparency and accountability because it is of public interest.
SERAP tweeted:
“COVID-19: Spending of N400bn to vaccinate Nigerians and N10.6bn on transportation is a public interest issue. It’s a transparency and accountability issue. It’s a human rights issue. It’s a public health issue. Federal Government @NigeriaGov: Publish details including online.”
Nigeria, on Tuesday, received nearly four million doses of AstraZeneca vaccines through the COVID-19 Vaccines Global Assess Facility popularity known as COVAX.
