300-level student allegedly raped, killed in UNILORIN
An undergraduate of the University of Ilorin, Blessing Olajide, was allegedly raped and murdered in her room in the Tanke area of Ilorin, Kwara State.
The 300-level who was a student of the Agricultural Science Department hailed from Oke-Opin in the Ekiti Local Government Area of the state.
As of the time of filing this report, details were still sketchy.
PUNCH reported that the deceased was murdered in her Tanke home on Tuesday.
When contacted, UNILORIN Director of Corporate Affairs, Alhaji Kunle Akogun, said he had not been briefed about the incident.
He said, “Sincerely, I am not aware of the incident. It might have happened outside the school campus, but, I’m not yet aware.”
Kwara State Police Public Relations Officer, Ajayi Okasanmi, however, confirmed the incident.
“A complaint was lodged at F’ Divisional Police Station of the discovery of the corpse of a student.
“Our men were mobilised to the scene and they evacuated the corpse and took it to the hospital for autopsy.
“We met her naked, bruises were noticed in her private part, her mouth was covered among others,” Okasanmi stated.
Reacting to the development, a lawmaker in the state, Ganiyu Abolarin, representing the Ekiti constituency in the state House of Assembly, decried the growing insecurity in the state. He demanded the immediate investigation, apprehension and prosecution of the culprits.
