Masked gunmen raid Enugu supermarket, steal bags of rice, others
Masked gunmen raided a popular supermarket in the Enugu metropolis, carting away bags of rice, cartons of noodles, soft drinks, and other expensive items worth millions of naira.
The incident reportedly happened around 7pm on Monday in 234 Supermarket at Onu Asata Roundabout, by O’Connor Street, Presidential Road, Enugu State.
The masked gunmen, numbering about nine, had stormed the supermarket in three Hilux vans shooting indiscriminately into the air before loading goods from the supermarket into their waiting vehicles, according to eyewitnesses.
The robbers were reported to have operated for about 30 minutes unchallenged despite the fact that there is a police station about seven poles away from the supermarket.
A spokesman for the State Police command, Daniel Ndukwe, said he would have to verify the information when contacted but was yet to do that as of the time of filing this report.
