Man remanded for allegedly stealing property worth N160,000

Ibadan court jails 28-year-old for unlawful dealing in Indian hemp



A Badagry Magistrates’ Court has ordered that one Earnest Osariodiom be remanded for allegedly stealing a property valued to be N160,000.

The 31-year old, on Friday pleaded guilty.

The Magistrate, Mr Segun Aka-Bashorun, however, ordered the remand of Osarodiom, pending the review of facts and sentencing at the next date of adjournment.

Aka-Bashorun adjourned the case until Feb. 18.

Osarodiom was arraigned on a count charge of stealing.

Earlier, the prosecutor, ASP Clement Okuiomose, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Feb. 1, at about 10a.m., at No 23, Mike Opeseye Street, Oke-Odan Isashi area of Lagos.

Okuiomose said that the defendant burgled the premises of one Kazeem Oluseye and stole 19 pieces of Gerald coated iron roofing sheets valued at N50,000.

“The defendant also stole one Sumec Generator valued at N100,000 and some pieces of iron rods valued at N10,000.

“The total value of property stolen is N160,000, property of the complainant.

“He was caught and handed over to the police for prosecution,” the prosecutor said.

According to him, the offence contravened Sections 287 of the Criminal Code of Lagos State, 2015.
