A bizarre incident reared its ugly head in Isiozi Umuaka, Imo state, recently as a family dug out the corpses of two members of their rivals, three weeks after they were buried.

It was gathered that the two families have been having a running battle over the ownership of the piece of land before the corpses were buried three weeks ago.

Eyewitnesses say the dispute between the two families took a shocking dimension on Tuesday when a member of the other family exhumed the corpses buried on the land and dropped them in the market square.

It was gathered that the corpses were those of a mother and her daughter-in-law who died 6 and 4 years ago respectively, but couldn’t be buried due to the lingering land dispute.

The family of the deceased dared all odds as they proceeded to bury their remains despite the unresolved crisis, but the other family proceeded to dig them out and took their caskets to the market square.

In retaliation, youths of the community reportedly broke into the house of the man who exhumed the corpses and have dumped the two coffins with the corpses in his sitting room.

A social media user Goodluck Pyagbara who posted a photo of the corpses in the man’s sitting room as he shared the latest update on the bizarre incident on his Facebook page.
