Man, 61, remanded for sexually assaulting seven boys in Kano
A Kano Chief Magistrates’ Court on Monday ordered the remand of a 61-year-old man, Ibrahim Alfa, over the alleged sexual assault of seven boys between the ages of eight and 10.
Alfa, who resides at Layin Jajira Quarters, Kano, is facing a charge of gross indecency.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Pogu Lale, told the court that one Hassan Sule of Kofar Ruwa Quarters, Kano, and four others, all of the same address reported the case at the Dala Divisional Police Station, Kano, on Jan. 23.
Lale said that sometime between July 2018 and January 2019, the accused deceived and lured the complainants’ 10-year-old sons into his shop situated at Yan Rodi Kofar Ruwa Market, Kano.
“The accused assaulted the boys by sucking their penis one after the other, gave them cassava and groundnut cake,’’ he alleged.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
According to the prosecutor, the offence contravened Section 285 of the Penal Code.
The Chief Magistrate, Muhammad Jibril, ordered the remand of the accused in prison custody and adjourned the case until Feb. 28, for mention.
