Ibadan road contractors fired by Makinde

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has terminated the appointment of the contractor handling the rehabilitation of the Ibadan Circular Road.
The sack of the ENL Consortium Construction Company was confirmed in a statement released by governor Makinde’s Chief Press Secretary, Taiwo Adisa.

According to Adisa, the contractor was shown the exit door due to the government’s dissatisfaction with the slow pace of work on the project, adding that the contractor would fail to deliver in two decades if allowed to continue with the project.

“We have terminated the initial arrangement. This is the road that we think will change the economy of Oyo State substantially. But the previous contractor, if we had continue with their pace, maybe they may finish in another 20 years,” he said.

Makinde, however, said his administration would complete the 32-kilometre stretch; the first phase of the road, before the end of his tenure on May 28, 2023.

He further assured that the ENL would be paid for the work done. (The Punch)
