Legendary singer Onyeka Onwenu laid to rest in Lagos

One of Nigeria’s most iconic and celebrated music figures,Onyeka Onwenu, was laid to rest at the Ebony Vaults in Lagos on Friday.

The revered artist passed away on July 30, 2024, at the age of 72, following a sudden collapse during an event honoring Stella Okoli, the Managing Director of Emzor Pharmaceuticals. She was rushed to Reddington Hospital in Ikeja, where she later died.

Her passing has left a profound impact on the nation, with an outpouring of grief from fans, colleagues, and the broader music industry. In her honor, a service of songs was held at the Fountain of Life Church in Ilupeju, Lagos.
