#LazyNigerianYouths! Buhari will know if we are jobless and lazy in 2019, says Arewa youths

The Arewa Youths Consultative Forum has said President Muhammadu Buhari will know if youths are jobless and lazy in 2019 elections.

The organisation’s president, Yerima Shettima, made the assertion during an interview with Daily Post, in a reaction to the statement made by President Buhari, who said ‘many Nigerian youths are uneducated, not ready to work and depend on oil revenue to survive.

The youth leader also stated that Femi Adesina’s clarification does not make any difference, noting that since the president’s statement became public, he has received several calls from youths across the north.

Shettima, who said Buhari’s statement is an insult to all Nigerian youths, disclosed that the Arewa youths are waiting for 2019 to prove to him if they are actually jobless and lazy.

He said youths across the north have been expressing anger over President Buhari’s comment. He said it is regrettable that Buhari could berate the youths who put their lives on the line for him to become the president.

Yerima said.

“From the moment that statement was out, there have been a lot of complaints and grumbles from various people from my place, and they kept calling. The complaints were too much that I was compelled to issue a statement.

“Ordinarily, I wouldn’t have said anything because I am not surprised to see that kind of statement because the government does not believe in the Nigerian youths from inception.

“If you look at the arrangement, the appointment, and how the government relates with the youths of this country, you will see that they do not have respect for the Nigerian youths despite the contributions of the youths.

Don’t forget that the youths put their lives on the line to fight against the previous government but when it comes to sharing the goodies of government, the youths are nowhere to be found. We are completely disappointed in Buhari and we will never make this mistake again.”
