A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Sir Oladipo Okpeseyi, has donated a church building to his community in Usen, Edo State, in order to enable Christians serve God better and also create national development.

Okpeseyi, who spoke during the Dedication of the Church Building in Usen, Ovia South West, Edo State, on Sunday, thanked God Almighty for the honour and privilege to build the church.

“On behalf of the family of the Late Edward Aigbedo Okpeseyi of Usen, I present this gift in thanksgiving to Almighty God, the creator of Heaven and earth.

“Today, therefore, is the manifestation of the honour and privilege reserved by God for the descendants of Mama Aidegueomo Okpeseyi as one of the earliest, if not the first Christian, in Usen Town.

“This church was also built to re-establish and assert the preeminence of Church Missionary Society, now Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion, in Usen town.

“I am ready to build an Anglican primary and secondary school, then a university with the help of God Almighty,” he said.

Earlier, Rt. Rev Peter Imasuen, Bishop of the Diocese of Benin, Anglican Community in Usen, advised Christians to serve God and humanity faithfully.

He said that the church would be called Okpeseyi Memorial Anglican Church in order to honour the donor of the church building and also remember his father, Late Pa Edward Okpeseyi.

“I am happy that the Lord has smiled on the people of Usen Town and He would direct us on how to use this edifice,” he said.

He appreciated Okpeseyi and prayed that the church would win souls for Christ.

His Royal Highness, Oba Alayeoluwa, Olu Awure of Usen Kingdom, thanked God Almighty for giving Okpeseyi the strength to build the church.

He said the community church would connect all Usen sons and daughters all over the world.

Mrs Lynda Odu-Okpeseyi, District Governor, Lions Clubs International District, appreciated God Almighty and the donor for building an edifice for Usen community.

“I am proud of the Okpeseyi family. This Church was build in order for Usen people to serve God better,” she said.
